altCamp Featured in Orange County Business Journal: New Roads for Glamping Camper Co.
Big news! We were just featured in the Orange County Business Journal! The article, titled “New Roads for Glamping Camper Co.,” highlights our recent integration with Outdoorsy, our partnership with Vanspeed Shop, as well as a travelogue from Community Editor Mark Mueller’s trip to Joshua Tree in the Loft.
When we started altCamp, the goal was pretty simple: to make outdoor travel more inspiring and rejuvenating for the soul. To do this, we created vans that blend industry-leading design with five-star hotel comfort, without giving up the little things that make life enjoyable (like a hot shower, a real mattress, and a great cup of coffee in the morning). To see that vision recognized by a major local publication is surreal (and super motivating).
“We Won’t Be Going Back to a Tent Anytime Soon”
One of the best parts of the article is a firsthand review from a member of the OCBJ editorial team, Mark Mueller, who took one of our vans out for a long weekend in Joshua Tree.
Here’s what he said:
“The verdict: while we’re not on the wealthiest list, the vans made us feel like we were. We won’t be going back to using a traditional tent any time soon when camping.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
That’s what altCamp is all about: helping people explore with more ease, comfort, and joy. Whether it’s your first road trip or your fiftieth, we want each one to feel like something special.
Big Growth, Same Mission
The article also highlights how we’ve grown over the past few years. What started with a few custom Sprinter vans built with our partners at Vanspeed has turned into something much bigger.
Thanks to a recent partnership with Outdoorsy, we’ve added over 1,000 third-party vans to our platform. From budget-friendly builds to rugged off-grid rigs, our network now spans the entire country giving you more ways to get outside, no matter where you're starting from.
And that’s not all. We also did a soft launch of BookRVs.com, a sister site that helps folks rent larger, full-sized motorhomes. It’s a way to serve even more types of travelers, not just those seeking a camper van experience.
“The Van is a Head-Turner”
Another line from the article we loved:
“The van is a head-turner and conversation starter.”
If you’ve taken one of our rigs out, you know what they’re talking about. Whether you’re parked at a campsite, a gas station, or the trailhead, someone will probably ask you about the van. It’s a fun way to meet people and a reminder that design matters, even when you’re off-grid.
